What to expect when you attend your first conscious dance event
If you’re stepping into a conscious dance class for the first time, simply arrive with an open mind, comfortable clothing, and a willingness to explore. It’s all about freedom, connection, and presence.
Of course different facilitators will do things slightly different, so below are my intentions for a 2 hour class:
- Arriving to the class and starting to gently warm up. This is mainly self-led, with some guidance for stretching our bodies in preparation for the session. This is a time for us to begin relaxing into our bodies and the space, giving ourselves a rest from our busy lives outside.
- An activity to help us dance together more freely. I will introduce a short activity or two to help us relax further into the space.
- Dancing time. This is our time for freedom. We move with the music, listening to our bodies. I help to guide our dance with regular prompts, without interrupting our flow.
- An activity. This short activity allows us to start to slow down as we come to the end of our dance.
- Relaxation meditation. This is the time for us to rest, grounding ourselves in the moment.
